Buggy Bootcamp exists to make mums feel happier and healthier and to ensure they are safe in their postnatal exercise journey

This is what my amazing Buggy Bootcamp mums have to say about the classes

Ellie

“It took me about four/five months after having my little boy to try Buggy Bootcamp as I was nervous about how much noise my baby would make during the session (he wasn’t exactly placid…). But I immediately found that there was no need to worry as everyone’s baby seems to grizzle at some point and Jo adjusts the exercise to fit in with the baby/crying, i.e. squats using the pram, walking with the pram to rock them to sleep and so on.

Some sessions are particularly amusing when the babies seem to set each other off right towards the end – like a little (tone deaf) orchestra.“

  • When can I start?
You can come along to BuggyBootcamp classes 6 weeks after a normal birth or 12 weeks after a c-section delivery. Lots of mums find that they need much more time than this though so don't rush.
  • Is BuggyBootcamp just for postnatal mums?
BuggyBootcamp is for ALL mums. Whether your baby is 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years old, it doesn't matter when you start.
  • Does BOOTCAMP mean that it's a super hard exercise class with an instructor constantly yelling at me to work harder?
No not at all it couldn't be further from the truth. You work as hard as you want to. If you've had a sleepless night with baby then just take it easy. BuggyBootcamp is much more about meeting other mums and having a chat. The exercise is just a reason for us to get together!
  • Do I need to register?
Yes you do need to register. Before starting BuggyBootcamp you need to complete a health questionnaire. Click here for the link. This will highlight any issues that you may need to return to your GP or another health professional for futher attention. It also details and injuries or health issues that I need to be aware of during the class.
  • What kind of pushchair do I need?
The classes aren't based around running (it is not advisable to run with your baby in a buggy until they are at least 6 months of age). You can use any pram or pushchair during class, even a double buggy!
  • What do I need to bring?
Plenty for you to drink and of course drinks and snacks for your little one, an old picnic mat or exercise mat, suncream, sunshade, raincover for buggy, toys and books.
  • What do I need to wear?
Loose comfortable clothing with suitable trainers and a really good sport bra. Layer up if it's cold and make sure you baby, toddler or child has suitable clothing. Remember they are much smaller than you so they will get cold much more quickly. It's worth bringing a light waterproof jacket for yourself and either getting waterproof trainers or spraying them with waterproofing treatment.
  • Do I need to bring any equipment?
All exercise equipment is provided although you do have the option to purchase your own resistance bands or bring your own from home.
  • Hoe long is each class?
Each class is approximately 45 minutes. I cut it down to 30 minutes if it's raining and it look like little ones aren't happy. Sometimes it goes on for longer eespecially if we all get chatting!
  • Can I pay as I go or do I have to buy a block?
The first class is free and then you need to pay for the remainder of the term. Catch up workout videos are free for you to use on the private Facebook Group. Payment wil be changing to a monthly subscription in January 2022
  • Can I bring my other children along during school holidays?
Yes of course! The more the merrier. It's so important for our children to see us exercising.
  • I'm not very fit will I be able to keep up?
The classes are aimed at postnatal mums and beyond. They are tailored for all fitness abilities and around the issues that we are often left with after pregnancy, such as diastasis rectus and pelvic floor dysfunction. I will always guide you to the most suitable level for you and as you get stronger you can of course work harder if you want to.
  • Do I have to run?
No not if you don't want to or if it's not safe for you to do so. It's super important that you work at a pace that you are comfortable with. Power walking is perfect and if you choose to start running later then that's up to you.
  • Does my baby, child or toddler have to stay in the buggy?"
Not at all. You can have your baby out on the picnic mat and little ones can run around and you'll find they often copy you. Please do remember that your child is your responsibility throughout the whole class.
  • Can I use a baby carrier?
The answer is yes and no. If you have diastasis then it is not advisable to babywear during my class. I need you to be able learn to engage and activate your core without the additional weight and change in posture that babywearing causes.
  • What happens if my baby or child start's crying?
Join the club! Your little one always comes first and because of the pace of the class there is always time to stop to feed, soothe, cuddle or nappy change. We are of course breastfeeding friendly too.
  • Can I come along without bringing my children?
Yes absolutely and many of our mums do just that, either as a one off or on a more regular basis. You just need to be aware that there will of course be other children and lots of noise!
  • Is BuggyBootcamp still on if it's raining?
Classes generally continue whatever the weather - rain, shine, snow and anything in between as long as it's safe to do so. If it's particulary cold or wet I will shorten the class as needed. If I need to cancel the class I will use the group What'sApp and send the meeting ID for a zoom class instead.
  • I'm going to miss a class, can I get a refund?"
When you sign up you get free access to pre-recorded workout available on my Facebook Group. This way if you miss a class you can always use a video to get workout completed at home.
  • Can I start at anytime during the month or term?
Yes you can start anytime. The first class is free and then we can pro rata that payment for the remaining classes.
